22 Hunt FFA members attended the 79th North Carolina State FFA Convention held at NC State University June 19-21, 2oo7.  At this annual state convention Hunt FFA students competed in events like Ag Mechanics, Dairy Foods, Extemporaneous Public Speaking, Food Science, Job Interview, Nursery/Landscape, Tool ID, and Quiz Bowl, and they also participated as delegates in formal state FFA business.
In addition to all this, students also heard many guest speakers, heard state officer retiring addresses, experienced the beautiful plant arrangements at the JC Raulston Arboretum, took in some of the beautiful NC State campus during tours, and saw the new slate of State FFA Officers for the 2007-2008 elected and installed. The Hunt FFA Chapter was also awarded for Membership Growth - 100% Membership, the second most Hometown Scholarship tickets sold in the state, and was recognized as a Superior National Chapter. Additionally, Karen Coleman was awarded second place in the state for her Agri-Entrepreneurship application. Click the title to see pictures from the State Convention and click

Eight Hunt FFA members attended NC FFA Recreational Camp at White Lake, NC June 11-15.  While at camp students participated in many sports events such as softball, basketball, volleyball, waterball, soccer skills, tug-of-war, ping-pong, putt-putt golf, horseshoes, shuffleboard, checkers, swimming, canoeing, and track and field.  They also experienced team building sessions, participated in the talent show, met many new people from across the state, had fun at the camp social, and just enjoyed the historical White Lake FFA Center.  To make a complete team the Hunt students teamed up with other students from Wilkes Central which turned out being great because members from both schools meshed and became good friends, not to mention did well in all of the events.  Click here to view a few pictures from camp.

As the school year is coming to a close, the 2007-2008 Hunt FFA officer team is pulling together the 3rd Annual FFA Banquet. After competitions throughout the year and Regional Rally in April, many active FFA members will be receiving certificates of accomplishment for there hard work. The banquet will be on June 2, 2008 at 6:00pm in the school cafeteria. All members and parents are encouraged to attend. The banquet is the Hunt FFA's way of honoring its members that prove themselves throughout the year: in competition, attending fundraising events, and going to monthly FFA meetings.
This year, the FFA officer consisted of 5 senior officers, Karen, Nick, Emma, Brittney, and Chris. We will be honoring them for all they have done, as well as listening to their retiring addresses. If anyone is interested in running for an FFA Chapter officer position next year, see Mr. Dudley asap to receive the information packets that are due on Monday, May 19, 2008. FFA officer interviews are to be held May 22, 2008 directly after school in the Ag. Shop. Please see Mr. Dudley for further information if you are interested.
With the summer comes great activities in the FFA. Summer dates are as follows: June 16-20, FFA Rec. Camp, June 24-26, State FFA Convention, and July 1-4, SLC. If you are interested in attending either State Convention or SLC, please see Mr. Dudley or Mr. Hardie for further information. If you would like to view pictures from previous years at these events, click on the link on the right hand side of this page.
We would also like to congratulate Allison Dunn for receiving a Regional FFA Officer position. As secretary of the East Central Region, Hunt recognizes you for being an outstanding member, and we know that you will serve our school well.
Congratulations!
Although the school year is coming to a close in roughly 3 weeks, the FFA isn't stopping there. Next years officers will be announced at the banquet, and with the summer begins new adventures. Your 2008-2009 will be busy planning events such as meetings, community service events, and many other things for you to be involved with next year. Hope that all enjoy your summer!!
Please feel free to browse through the Hunt FFA Website, checking out the pictures and the calendar of events. If you have any questions or would like to send comments or ideas about things that you would like to do as an FFA member, please contact Mr. Dudley or any of your 9 FFA officers. Thank you.

Over the past couple of years, the Hunt FFA has grown and improved as a chapter. In the Spring Semester of the 2oo6 - 2oo7 school year, Hunt competed in many events.
In the soil judging event, 6 FFA members traveled with Mr. Dudley to Creedmoor, NC to compete in the State Soil Judging CDE in April. These 6 members were divided into both a junior and senior team, which both represented Hunt by placing very well in the Federation, Region, and State.
Also in April, 4 FFA members traveled with Ms. Ross to Raleigh, NC to compete in Livestock Judging. The team placed 1st in the Federation and Region, and 9th in the state. John Barnes was also 6th individual in the state.
In the previous month - March 2oo7, 5 FFA members traveled with Ms. Ross to Greensboro, NC for MEGA Conference. While at MEGA Conference, students get to go to leadership workshops, socials where they meet plenty of new friends from all across NC, and also on this two day trip, they have a dance for fun to be had by all.

October proved to be yet another very busy month for the Hunt FFA. Towards the end of the month, ten members and two FFA advisors traveled to Indianapolis, IN to the 80th National FFA Convention. This was Hunt's second year going to this annual event. While in Indianapolis, FFA members are treated with the uttmost royalty. The whole city is decked out in FFA gear, being temporarily named FFA Way for the whole week members are visiting. FFA members and advisors stay in hotels and such that surround the city. Events are held in Conseco Fieldhouse, concerts in the RBC Center where the Colts play football every season, and there is also a career show where members can explore their options to further their education in both FFA and agriculture. Also while in Indianapolis, members can visit the National FFA Center. Here, members can take tours through this building and learn interesting facts about the FFA throughout its history. There are bricks that are purchased by schools and districts that are utilized as the floor that lets everyone know the importance of the FFA within that certain area. National Convention is a great way for FFA members to come together from across the country. We look forward to going once again next year to partake in such a magnificent event.
